Mildred Ann (Schaefer) Schroeder was born September 29, 1926 to Henry and Theresa (Bruns) Schaefer near Menominee, NE. Mildred married Roman Schroeder on April 24, 1950. Out of their love they were blessed with eight children. Teresa (Rod) Bowder, Norfolk, NE; Monica (Jerry) Hain, Norfolk, NE; Romaine (Bob) Kappel, Sioux Falls, SD; Ronald (Lisa) Schroeder, Crofton, NE; Ricky Schroeder, Madisonville, TX; Roger (Sheryl) Schroeder, Yankton, SD; Mark (Erin) Schroeder, Kingsley, IA; infant son, Roy, deceased; sixteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, with two more on the way; one brother, Harold Schaefer, Yankton, SD; and one sister, Rita Zavadil, Fordyce, NE. Mildred graduated from Mount Marty High School in 1945. She attended Wayne College and taught for several years. After many years as a farmer's wife and mother, she served as a nurse's aide in two nursing homes. She was a lifetime member of St. Boniface Parish. Mildred enjoyed family, grandchildren, gardening, flowers, playing cards, and having lunch with her friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roman, of 43 years; infant son, Roy; her parents, two brothers, three sisters, and numerous other relatives and friends.
