Description	:	Mildred Bernadine Carmichael, daughter of Elmer and Maggie Sherwood Goldner, was born March 7, 1918, in Ellston, Iowa. She departed this life Saturday, August 17, 2002, in her home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, five months, and ten days. On June 11, 1943, she was united in marriage to Dr. Bruce Carmichael, and to this union one son was born. Read More	Mildred Bernadine Carmichael, daughter of Elmer and Maggie Sherwood Goldner, was born March 7, 1918, in Ellston, Iowa. She departed this life Saturday, August 17, 2002, in her home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, five months, and ten days. On June 11, 1943, she was united in marriage to Dr. Bruce Carmichael, and to this union one son was born. She was preceded in death by her parents; a step-grandson, Bryant Hoffman; and a sister, Ruby. Mildred is survived by her loving husband of nearly sixty years, Dr. Bruce, of the home; a son, Dr. James Carmichael, and his wife, Judy, of Springfield, Missouri; three grandchildren, Martin and Jeffrey Carmichael, both of Columbia, Missouri, and Lorrie Hoffman, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Iowa, and graduated from Kellerton High School in Kellerton, Iowa. She then earned her bachelors degree from Northwest Missouri State University, in Maryville, Missouri. After she and Bruce were married, they first made their home in Iowa, and then moved to Independence, Missouri for a few years. In 1965, they moved to Lebanon and made their home in the beautiful Victorian style house where Dr. Bruce also had his chiropractic office. For several years, Mildred was a school teacher for the Waynesville School District, and retired from teaching in 1978. She also assisted in the business office of her husband's clinic throughout the years. Mildred made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Lebanon. She was a past president of the Green Thumb Garden Club, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Colonists. She loved flowers and enjoyed growing various different kinds in her yard and garden. She possessed an artistic flair for painting and was especially fond of doing still life paintings of flowers. She had an appreciation for music and enjoyed playing the piano. She also was a wonderful cook. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed spending time with them. Mildred was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed, but the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends will last forever. Services were held August 19, 2002 at 7:00p.m. in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation followed the Monday evening service in the funeral home. Graveside services were held August 20, 2002 at 1:00p.m. in the Oakhill Cemetery in Maryville, Missouri under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon, Missouri.
