Description	:	Mildred Briggs Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred C. Briggs of Omaha, Nebraska, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, in the Methodist Church at Emerson, with the Rev. Frank Fotoplos of Omaha, officiating. Casket bearers were Robert Grayson, Duane Porter, Robert Hossle, Marion Lang, Max Naylor and Rollin Bass. Ushers were Wilbur Morrison and E. B. Westenberg. Music was furnished by LaVern Carson, organist, and Mrs. Frank Fotoplos, soloist, who sang "No One Ever Cared for Me Like Jesus" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus.". The following life sketch was read: Mildred C. Briggs, daughter of Albert F. and Clara D. Smith, was born on February 5, 1908 at Emerson. Except for a brief time in Nebraska her early years were spent in this community. She attended Emerson schools and Cedar Falls Teachers College, then taught in the grade school at Macedonia. Mildred's Christian conversion came in early life and she united with the Methodist Church of Emerson retaining her membership until death. Mildred united in marriage to Ansil L. Briggs of Emerson on July 17, 1929 at Loveland. Colo. To this union was born three sons, Keith and Kenneth, twins, deceased at birth, and Laurence. The family resided in Red Oak for fifteen years prior to moving to Omaha, in 1945. She passed away on Sunday, September 3, 1957 at the age of 59, following a brief illness, with her family at her side. Survivors beside her husband, son, and two grand-daughters of Omaha, are her mother, Mrs. Clara D. Smith, sister, Mrs. Ferne Hossle, both of Emerson; brother, Laurence Smith of Malvern. Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews. A brother Warren and her father preceded her in death. A loyal and devoted wife, an exemplary mother, a kind and considerate neighbor and friend.
