Mildred was born October 3, 1918 to Chris B. & Lena (Zimmerman) Buschow. Mildred grew up on a farm north of Blue Hill, Nebraska. She graduated from Blue Hill (NE.) High School in 1936. She moved and worked in Hastings, Nebraska for the Lincoln Telephone Company. Mildred was born October 3, 1918 to Chris B. & Lena (Zimmerman) Buschow. Mildred grew up on a farm north of Blue Hill, Nebraska. She graduated from Blue Hill (NE.) High School in 1936. She moved and worked in Hastings, Nebraska for the Lincoln Telephone Company. Mildred married her high school sweetheart, Marvin Schulz, on December 10, 1942 while he was home on furlough during World War II. They lived in Galveston, Texas until Marvin's discharge in 1945. They then moved to Hastings, Nebraska where they spent the rest of their lives together working and raising a family. Mildred was a homemaker with a deep sense of loyalty and dedication to her family and church. As a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings, Nebraska she served many years as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was active in Church Circle, WELCA, and volunteer duties. She served years as a 4-H leader. In her spare time she enjoyed music, square dancing, walking, and family trips together. She loved to play games and cards of all kinds. The grandkids would say, "Here comes Grams, get out the cards and dominos." She was affectionately known to many as "Shorty." Mildred was preceded in death by: parents; and husband of nearly 70 years, Marvin Schulz. Those remaining to cherish her memory are: Son: Roger Schulz, –Grand Island, NE. Daughter & Spouse: Rhonda & Mark Takagishi, East Lansing, MI. Grandchildren: 3 Great-Grandchildren: 5 Many other loving relatives and friends. Burial was in The Blue Hill Cemetery, Blue Hill, Nebraska. Published in The Grand Island Independent on April 12, 2013
