Interment is at Lands Lutheran Cemetery. Mildred Coyer was born on February 15, 1918, to Otto and Margaret Coyer at Fairview. She received her education at Inwood High School and taught at a ruria1 grade school for four years. She was united in marriage to Arnold Gilbertson on Oct 1, 1940, at Fairview. They farmed northwest of Hudson for the following 39 years and in 1979 they retired to Canton. She was a member of Lands Lutheran Church and their Bell Choir, Moe-ettes Extension Club, Canton Garden Club, Canton-Inwood Hospital Auxilliary, a n d was an avid birdwatcher. Survivors include her husband, Arnold, of Canton two sons, Lt. Col. Michael of Germany and Curt of rural Hudson, two daughters, Gloria Rops of Lennox and Julie Schirber of Timber Lake, South Dakota, 13 grandchildren; one brother, Ernest Coyer of Cherokee, Iowa; and two, sisters, Florence De Vaul and Lorraine Porter, both of Inwood.
