Read More	Mildred “Milly” Gregg, 58, of West Liberty, died of cancer Monday, Oct. 6, 1997 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Born Mildred Eleanor Heckart Jan. 24, 1939, in Ottawa, Kan., she was the daughter of Fred and Alyce Bailey Heckart. She married Conrad Gregg April 5, 1958, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The family moved to West Liberty when she was a pre-schooler. She was a 1957 graduate of West Liberty High School. At the time of her death, she was executive director of the Hoover Nature Trail, which leads from Cedar Rapids to Burlington, and owned Liberty Realty. She served on the West Liberty City Council, owned the Enterprise, a local newspaper, and WLTV, the local cable channel. Mrs. Gregg was instrumental in the planning and development of the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty and the Golden Years Housing where she had served on the board for several years. She was a member of the West Liberty Rotary Club. Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Jeanie Countryman of West Liberty; one son, Jerry Gregg of Medford, Wis.; five grandchildren, Shawna and Stacey Countryman, Kara and Keith Gregg, and Michelle Graber; her mother of West Liberty; three brothers, Robert Heckart of Anaheim, Calif., Jim Heckart of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Harold Heckart of Norfolk, Va.; and one sister, Vida Workman of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers. A reception will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today in the Great Hall of West Liberty United Methodist Church, followed by a service of remembrance at 7 p.m. Memorials have been established for West Liberty Depot Restoration Fund, P. O. Box 123, West Liberty, and the West Liberty State Bank. Barker Funeral Home, West Liberty, is in charge of arrangements.
