She was the daughter of: Howard Everette and Versa Mae (Chadwick) Anderson. Mildred attended school in Washington until the eighth grade. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1941 and attended the University of Iowa College of Nursing. Mildred was united in marriage to Donald Frank "Don" Sands on November 1, 1943 in Albany, Georgia. Mildred worked with her husband in the family farming operation. She was a member of the Cotter Presbyterian Church in Cotter; Louisa County, Iowa. The Cotter Guild and the White Cloud Organization. Mildred enjoyed quilting, collecting antiques, presenting antiques at county fairs and gardening. Mildred E. (Anderson) Sands, age 87, passed away on Thursday; May 27, 2010 at Halcyon House in Washington, Iowa following a lengthy illness. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her daughter: Pat Moyer of Washington, Iowa. Her son: Frank Sands of Columbus Junction, Iowa. Her son: Tim (Julie) of Conesville, Iowa. Her four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Her sisters: Leah Foster of Davenport, Iowa and Nancilee Johnson of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1994; one sister: Phyllis Carter and three brothers-in-law: Robert Carter, John Foster and Gordon Johnson. May they rest in peace. May God bless her memory and give strength to those that mourn. Visitation will begin at: 12:00 p.m. on Monday; May 31, 2010 at the Jones~Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at: 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday; June 1, 2010 also at the Jones~Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa with the Reverend Kitch Shazter officiating. Interment will be at the Ainsworth aka Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth; Washington County, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Cotter Presbyterian Church and Salem Welsh Presbyterian Church. The Jones~Eden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
