Description	:	Mildred Elizabeth (Smith) Gass, known to her friends as "Mimi", passed away October 29, 2019 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 92. Mimi, the daughter of Dorothy Ostrom and Rolla Smith, was born on May 3, 1927 in Poweshiek County, Iowa. Read More	Mildred Elizabeth (Smith) Gass, known to her friends as "Mimi", passed away October 29, 2019 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 92. Mimi, the daughter of Dorothy Ostrom and Rolla Smith, was born on May 3, 1927 in Poweshiek County, Iowa. After attending Scott Township #7 rural school in her early years she went on to graduate from Montezuma High School in 1944 and soon after married Marvin Dale Gass on July 16, 1944. She spent most of her adult years working for Sutherland Printing Company and raising her four children after her husband's death on March 23, 1963. Mimi enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and watch NASCAR racing and ISU and Iowa football teams on TV. After moving to Ankeny, she enjoy making new friends in Penelope Senior Apartments. She will be greatly missed by her only brother, Warren (Marvel); four children, Linda (Francis), Betty (Russ), Karen and Marvin(Yolanda); eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, and her parents, Rolla and Dorothy. At Mimi's request, no services will be held, and her ashes will be interred at Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in her name to The Poweshiek County Historical & Genealogical Society in Montezuma, Iowa. Memorial Services of Iowa, Ankeny, Iowa.
