Description	:	On the 29th of November, 1905, in the city of Minden, Nebraska, a baby girl came to brighten the home of Luther and Nellie Monroe. She was their youngest child and they named her Mildred Willa Elizabeth. she grew to womanhood in this city and attended the Minden schools and churches. On... Read More	On the 29th of November, 1905, in the city of Minden, Nebraska, a baby girl came to brighten the home of Luther and Nellie Monroe. She was their youngest child and they named her Mildred Willa Elizabeth. she grew to womanhood in this city and attended the Minden schools and churches. She graduated form the eight grade in 1920, entered the Axtell high school as a freshman the following September; studied during her sophomore year in Minden, the last two years of her high school being at Lexington where she graduated with the class of 1924. On the 8th day of June following her graduation, her father passed away leaving Mildred and her mother alone in the home. Mildred immediately took up the profession of teaching and taught a successful term of school at Eddyville, Nebraska. The following summer she moved to Minden with her mother and taught in district No. 66 near Axtell, driving from home each day. At the close of her school she accepted a position as clerk in L.T. Pedley's drug store. She filled this position with credit. Her sunny disposition and pleasant greetings made her very popular with the public About three weeks ago she accepted a position with the Farmer's Union store in Minden where she served acceptably until her health failed. Sometime ago she had the dreaded flu which left her heart weak. Of late she has been trouble with pain in her side. On Sunday evening, February 6, she was taken to Dr. Abbott's hospital for treatment. After a consultation of doctors it was decided that an operation was necessary. This was performed Tuesday morning. She made a brave fight for her life, but the flu had left her heart and system too weak to stand the strain After much suffering she passed to the land where "there is no more pain" late Saturday, February 12, 1927, at the early age of 21 years, 2 months and 13 days. Mildred was an exceptionally bright and talented girl. She broke into people' hears like soldiers into a city, and when once inside took full possession as a friend. There was nothing about her that was suggestive of pretense or of pose. She was always the same sweet, sunny, genuine Mildred, beloved by all, both young and old. She was a willing helper and always popular in public and social affairs, but the major portion of her time and talent was given to her church and its activities. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church of Minden, May 16,1920. No one could question her sincerity and loyalty to the cause of her Master. During the last year and a half she has served as Sunday school chorister, pianist and teacher. She was active in the Epworth League and served as pianist. She assisted with the care and training of the Home Guards, was a member of the Queen Esther Circle, and was a very faithful, efficient and pleasing member of the choir. She leaves to mourn her departure her mother, Mrs. Nellie Monroe, three sisters, Mrs. M.H. Stephens, of Lexington, Mrs. Clyde Burchell, and Mrs. Charley Green of Minden, Mr. Eugene Andersen her friend and betrothed, other relatives and a multitude of friends both young and old. After a short scripture reading and prayer at the house, the funeral service was held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church, conducted by th pastor, Rev. J. R. Bucknell.
