Jones Elliott, 91, formerly of 1420 Jefferson St., was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 6:58 p.m. Tuesday at Hickory Creek at Rochester. She was born July 26, 1919, in Lucerne to Fredrick S. and Velma (Gilley) Wilson. Mildred and Ralph "Dick" Jones solemnized their wedding vows on Dec. 25, 1936, in Lucerne. Their union spanned 44 years and produced six children, Kay, Carol, Janelle, Fred, David Lee and Ralph. Many Fulton County families enjoyed the culinary skills of Ralph and Mildred by dining with their family at the Country Kitchen on Indiana 25 North for nearly a decade during the '60s and early '70s. Mildred appreciated the beauty of flowers and meeting people. This led to her stint helping out at Conde's Farm Market. She enjoyed cooking for the guests of the Geneva Conference Center. An avid card player, Mildred enjoyed spirited games of euchre at the Knights of Columbus. Family trips to King Gyros for a slab of ribs was an event she always looked forward to with great enthusiasm. To relax she enjoyed listening to music from the "Big Band Era" and Christian gospel. Mildred's passions were cooking, baking and her family. Among her most cherished memories were the many special feasts she prepared on Sundays, holidays and family celebrations. Mildred will be lovingly remembered by a daughter, Janelle Smith and her husband Richard "Dick," Rochester; two sons, Fred A. Jones and wife Joyce, Rochester, and David Lee Jones and wife Becky, Florida; stepson Bob Elliott, White Pigeon, Mich.; stepdaughter Becky Bingaman, Three Rivers, Mich.; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph "Dick" Jones, on Jan. 24, 1979; later by husbands Arden Bay and Fred Elliott; two daughters, Norma "Kay" Henderson in 2002 and Carol Baillieul in 1991; and son Ralph R. Jones in 1973. A celebration of the life of Mildred Elliott will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, with Chaplain Charlie Azbell officiating. Friends may visit from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hickory Creek at Rochester or Hope Hospice of Fulton County.
