She was baptized and confirmed at the Old West Paint Creek Church in rural Waterville, Iowa. Mildred graduated from Waukon High School in 1946. Mildred was united in marriage with Donald J. Heim on December 21, 1946 in Waukon. They were later divorced. She then was united in marriage to Norbert W. Meighan on August 16, 1955 in Ossian, Iowa. Norbert preceded her in death on October 23, 1965. Mildred worked for Beatrice Foods until 1988 and then worked for the Health Care Manor, in New Hampton, Iowa until 1992. She passed away after a lengthy illness at the Bartels Lutheran Home in Waverly, Iowa at the age of 66. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Frederika, Iowa. Mildred is survived by one son and daughter in law Donald and Charlene Heim of Tripoli, Iowa. Also, daughter Jane and son in law Dan Zeien of New Hampton and one sister Wilma Evanson of Winona, Minnesota. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister who died in infancy.
