Description	:	The cherished family matriarch, passed away at the age of 95 in Canton South Dakota. Mildred was born on the family farm of her parents, Enebret & Clara (Hilmen) Hovrud, southwest of Worthing, SD. This farm was the original 1870's homestead of her grandparents, Knudt & Raginild Hilmen. She was born into family of 10 children. Mildred was born on the family farm of her parents, Enebret & Clara (Hilmen) Hovrud, southwest of Worthing, SD. This farm was the original 1870's homestead of her grandparents, Knudt & Raginild Hilmen. She was born into family of 10 children. She was baptized August 15-1920 and confirmed July 14-1935 at West Prairie Lutheran Church, by Rev. H.M. Solem. She attended Nelson School District #34 in rural Worthing, SD. On June 29-1940, Mildred was united in marriage to Ernest Fossum at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Parsonage, Inwood, IA by Reverend B. Hable. They farmed their entire married life in Lincoln County SD. Mildred was a life-time active member of Canton Lutheran Church where she also was active in the Marian Circle and Bible Study. Those grateful for having shared her life are her two sons, Charles (Lorene) and Arlyn (Joann) both of Canton SD. Nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren Sisters; Emma Rodvold, Vida Hitterdal both of Sioux Falls SD, Sister-in-law; Nila Olson of Centerville SD. Clarice (Fred) Haan, of Chancellor SD. Ida Fossum of Lennox SD. Erma Fossum, of Canton SD.
