A daughter of Lemuel and Maggie Parks Mahone, she was born at Greenville March 19, 1901. She was a retired school teacher who devoted 30 years to that profession, and a member of the Virginia and National Education Associations. She was a member of the McDowell United Methodist Church, and was active in the Women's Society of Christian Service. Mrs. Rose was twice married. Her first husband, Sherman B. Colaw, died in 1947. and her second husband, the Rev. L. O. Rose, died in 1961. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. George G. (Ophelia) Gum, of Monterey, and Mrs. Frank Bryant of Greenville; a brother, Hiram Mahone, of Spottswood; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held from the McDowell United Methodist Church at 2 p. m. Monday, Nov. 2. with the Rev. Bernard R. Skeens officiating. Interment was in Blue Grass Cemetery with the Obaugh Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
