Description	:	Mildred “Joan” Taylor died Friday at the Presbyterian Manor of Arkansas City. She was 96 years old. She was born in rural Arkansas City to Irl and Jeanne Godfrey where she grew up on the family farm. She was the eldest of four children. After high school graduation, she attended Kansas State College in Manhattan where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics in 1946. In 1947, she married Ray Taylor of Arkansas City. She was 96 years old. She was born in rural Arkansas City to Irl and Jeanne Godfrey where she grew up on the family farm. She was the eldest of four children. After high school graduation, she attended Kansas State College in Manhattan where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics in 1946. In 1947, she married Ray Taylor of Arkansas City. Over the next eleven years, they had four children, and set up permanent residence in Winfield, Kansas. They remained Cowley County, Kansas residents for the rest of their lives. She was a member of many civic organizations, especially proud of her membership in PEO Chapter CU. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church throughout her life, first in Arkansas City and later in Winfield. She was involved in her husband’s funeral home business, worked in the library at Lowell School, but was first and foremost concerned with being a homemaker and mother. She will be remembered as a generous and gracious lady. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her firstborn, Morris Taylor of Topeka, KS. She is survived by her sister, Beverly Keller of Arkansas City, and brothers James (Elva) Godfrey of Arkansas City, and William (Barbara) Godfrey of Overland Park, KS; daughter-in-law Christa Taylor of Topeka, KS, daughters Julie (Lou) Mignone of Winfield, and Jane (Monte) Coffey of Carl Junction, MO, and son, Bryan Taylor of Henderson, NV; eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Memorial services will be delayed until an undefined date when family and friends can gather safely. Memorial contributions can be made in Joan's name to First Presbyterian Church , AC Presbyterian Manor, and PEO projects .
