Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church in Beatrice with Rev. Jimmy Shelbourn officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. Visitation was at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice on Monday, Nov. 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. with the family greeting friends. Mildred Barber was born Feb. 15, 1914 to Oscar and Etta (Lofholm) Swanson in Loup City. She graduated from Loup City High School in 1932 and then attended Kearney State Teachers College. She married George H. Barber on May 5, 1940 in Loup City. They moved to Beatrice in 1948. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the United First Presbyterian Women and P.E.O., all of Beatrice. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, George L. and Donna Barber of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; a grandson and his wife, Eric and Kristen Barber and a great granddaughter, Juliana Barber, all of Park City, Utah; granddaughter and her husband, Jennifer and Mark Tim and great grandchildren, Hannah, Kelsey, Logan and Luke, all of Cumming, Ga., a grandson, Jason Barber of Columbus, Ohio. Additional survivors include sisters and their spouses, Lois and Harold Hanshew of Litchfield, Aldean and Bruce Isaacson of Junction City, Colo., Shirley Stalder of Fairbanks, Alaska, Fern Sebby of Beatrice, Sue Stephens of Glendale, Calif. and Alice Lynn and Dr. Carl Throckmorton of Hastings. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George Barber, son, James Barber, brother, Leslie Swanson and two sisters, Rae Schumacher and Ellen Kronkright. Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice was in charge of arrangements.
