Description	:	Mildred Lorene Harris was born September 16,1923 to Morris and Leila Lehman at their country home near Adair, lowa. She had 2 older brothers and 1 younger sister and brother. She attended country school through 8th grade. After completing 8th grade, she moved to an apartment in Guthrie Center which she shared with several girl friends. She met Dale Harris at a dance in Guthrie Center, and they were married in Hiawatha, Kansas on February 2L,1947. She met Dale Harris at a dance in Guthrie Center, and they were married in Hiawatha, Kansas on February 2L,1947. Following their marriage, they moved to the Harris Family Farm southwest of Guthrie Center, lowa. They became parents of 2 daughters, Janet Kay and Joyce Ann. Mildred spent her life working on the farm, doing farm chores, including milking cows every night and morning, and raising a large garden. She loved her family and attended all of her daughter's school and church events. She loved having company and always cooked a large, delicious meal. After her daughters were grown, she continued to keep busy on the farm, still raising a large garden. She loved becoming a grandma and great grandma and looked forward to their visits and babysitting them. She instilled the joy of cooking in all of her grandchildren. She belonged to the First Christian Church in Guthrie Center for many years and was active in helping with church activities. She belonged to a neighborhood club called the Jolly Bunch. She especially enjoyed the neighborhood card parties in the wintertime. She liked to embroider during the evenings in the winter months, and she embroidered a quilt for each of her grandchildren. After the death of Dale in 2002, she remained on the farm for several years. When she and her sister felt they could no longer keep up with the work on their farms, they moved to Guthrie Center - each renting their own apartment from Del Wedemeyer. She remained in that apartment until failing health forced her to move to the New Homestead in October, 2013. She looked forward to family visits and outings and hearing what her grandchildren and great grandchildren were doing. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, Dale, Dallas, and Dayton Lehman, Brother-in-laws Leo Armstrong, Leonard Mckibbin, and George Kopaska; and Sister- in-laws Thora Armstrong, Eileen McKibbin, Neva Harris, Mary Lehman, and Kathryn Lehman, She will be greatly missed by her daughters Janet Oberholtz and Joyce (John) Wasson, grandchildren, Jeff and Chad (Cara) Oberholtz, Michelle (Jason) Muir, Jason (Emily) and Jeremy (Larisa) Wasson), Great Grandchildren Devon, Kelsey, and Kaylee Oberholtz, and Bella, Tori, Xavier, and Daniella Muir, and Greta and lan Wasson, Sister, Maxine Kopaska and Brother-in- Law Cecil Harris. Many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends, including her special beautician of 30+ years, Jean Higgins. Photo and obituary was published by Twigg funeral Home .
