She was born to Karl and Mary Litzenberger Scheuerman on April 4, 1916 at the family farm near Endicott, Washington. She graduated from Endicott High School in 1934 and the following year married Leo Lautensleger whose family farmed nearby. The couple first lived in Endicott and relocated to Brewster, Washington in the 1930s where she cooked for the lumbering crew where her husband was employed. She was born to Karl and Mary Litzenberger Scheuerman on April 4, 1916 at the family farm near Endicott, Washington. She graduated from Endicott High School in 1934 and the following year married Leo Lautensleger whose family farmed nearby. The couple first lived in Endicott and relocated to Brewster, Washington in the 1930s where she cooked for the lumbering crew where her husband was employed. The couple raised three children—Dorothy, Mary, and Richard in Brewster where Mildred worked in local apple packing warehouses for four decades first as a line packer and later as a supervisor. Millie served for many years as organist for Lutheran churches in Okanogan, Bridgeport, and Brewster, and following her retirement in the 1980s was a longtime caregiver to several community elders. The Lautenslegers made frequent visits to Endicott through the years to visit relatives and resided in Brewster until 1995 when they relocated to Vancouver where their children resided. Mr. Lautensleger passed away in 1996. Millie was an avid walker, worked cross-word puzzles, and enjoyed a wide circle of family and friends from the Brewster and Endicott areas with whom she kept in regular contact. She is survived by daughters Dorothy Riggan and Mary Coblitz, son Richard Lautensleger, all of Vancouver, five grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and fourteen great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be designated for the St. John-Endicott Schools Reich-Scheuerman Scholarship Fund or the American Cancer Society. Funeral Services were held Monday, November 8th at Trinity Lutheran Church and burial was in the Endicott Cemetery. On-line condolences may be left at www.bruningfuneralhome.com
