She was born September 19, 1928, in Galax, to John Paul Gentry & Hallie Pauline Anderson Gentry who preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons, John Edwin Booth & wife, Debra L. Booth of Sturbridge, MA, William Fitzpatrick Booth, Sr., & wife, Karen J. Booth of Fredericksburg, VA, and Blackburn Jordan Booth of Virginia Beach, VA; and three grandchildren, Joshua Loren Booth, William Fitzpatrick Book Jr., and Thomas Paul Booth. She was born September 19, 1928, in Galax, to John Paul Gentry & Hallie Pauline Anderson Gentry who preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons, John Edwin Booth & wife, Debra L. Booth of Sturbridge, MA, William Fitzpatrick Booth, Sr., & wife, Karen J. Booth of Fredericksburg, VA, and Blackburn Jordan Booth of Virginia Beach, VA; and three grandchildren, Joshua Loren Booth, William Fitzpatrick Book Jr., and Thomas Paul Booth. Mrs. Booth graduated from Galax High School in 1945 and received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Madison College in 1949; she also received a Masters in Business Administration from Richmond Professional Institute in 1967. Her professional career included working for Eastman Kodak in Johnson City, TN, and Reynolds Metals in Richmond, VA. She taught at John Tyler Community College in Chester, VA, and at Norfolk Business College. Also, she was a teacher at Saltville High School and spent 24 years teaching in the Galax City School system, retiring in 1993. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 8, 1999, Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. and at the family home in Galax from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial donation be made to Galax City Schools, Foundation for Excellence in Education, c/o Susie Garner, Galax, VA.
