Description	:	MILLER, MILDRED LOUISE—Mildred Louise Watson Miller was born to William and Ella Maria Simpson Watson on July 23, 1911, at their home four miles east of Franklin, and passed away December 29, 1989, at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 6 days. She was the youngest of four children in the family. Read More	MILLER, MILDRED LOUISE—Mildred Louise Watson Miller was born to William and Ella Maria Simpson Watson on July 23, 1911, at their home four miles east of Franklin, and passed away December 29, 1989, at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 6 days. She was the youngest of four children in the family. Mildred attended Rural School District 15 for one year and then continued her elementary education at Franklin Public Schools, so she could ride with her sister who was in high school. She was graduated from the Franklin High School in 1929. Having taken the Normal Training Course, and passing the Teachers Examinations, she taught in a rural school southeast of Franklin for one term. In the fall of 1930, she enrolled in Barnes Commercial College in Denver Col., where she completed both the accounting and secretarial courses. She returned to Franklin in the fall of 1931 and secured a position as an assistant to the receiver of the failed banks in Franklin and Webster counties. In 1933, a County Extension office was established in Franklin county, and she began working in county and federal offices until 1947, including a transfer to Fillmore county in April of 1941. Mildred married Charles H. Miller of Ohiowa on July 27, 1947. They lived on a farm in Chelsea township until they moved to their own farm in Stanton township in 1958. They had one daughter, Patricia Lu. She was a member of the Congregational Church throughout her life, with the exception of a few years when membership was transferred to the United Brethren Church in Chelsea township. At the time of her death, she was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Geneva, where she had held various offices. She also was active in the Fillmore County Grange, OK Kensington, in County Extension Clubs, and in the VFW Auxiliary. She derived much joy from her family and her gardens. Mildred was preceded in death by an infant sister, her mother and father, one brother and by one sister. She is survived by her husband, Charles; daughter, Patricia Jett, and granddaughters, Jessica Marie and Sara Elizabeth; sister-in-law, Catherine Watson and nephew, Robert Watson; and nephew William Watson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie Andrews, Irvin and Charlene Miller, Hazel Jean Koehn, Lynn and Suzann Koozer, Bill and Joann Jackson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Funeral services were conducted from the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Geneva on Tuesday, January 2, with the Rev. Brenda Barnes Jamison officiating. Mrs. Dorothy Apley accompanied the congregation, who sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and Gaylord Cradduck, who sang “Amazing Grace.” Pallbearers were Bill Burgess, Lowell R. Heath, Donald Moravec, Patrick J. O’Brien, Bill and Dale Richards. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal January 4th, 1990 page 5.
