Description	:	Funeral services for Mildred M. Bottjen, 71, of Moville, were held Monday May 3, 1993 at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Kingsley. Rev. Michael Gruhn officiated. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, under the direction of the Dickson-Michaelson Funeral Home of Kingsley. Mrs. Roxanne Stauch, soloist, sang ‘I Am But A Stranger Here’. Mrs. Barbara Carlson was organist. Casketbearers were Messrs. Gary Hunwardsen, Garry Bottjen, Delvin Bottjen, Bill Christiansen, Roger Wright and Dennis Gross. Mrs. Bottjen, the former Mildred Mae Stolley, was born May 18, 1921, in Grant Township, Ida county, Iowa, daughter of Ed and Bertha (Rossow) Stolley. She was baptized as an infant and moved as a two-year-old with her family to Moville. She attended rural school in Woodbury County and graduated from Climbing Hill High School in 1939. She married Elzie F. Bottjen November 17, 1946, at Climbing Hill. They lived on the Bottjen farm south of Kingsley until moving to Moville in 15. She taught rural school for six years and later returned to school herself, graduating from Le Mars’ Westmar College in 1966. She taught in the Kingsley-Pierson Jr. High English Department for 16 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, and had taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School there. She was a member of the Ladies’ Aid and LWML, and had held several offices and served on many boards in the group. Survivors include her husband; two sons and their wives, Dean and Charlene of Watseka, Illinois, and Eric and Peg of Omaha; a daughter and her husband, Debra and Gary Wenham of Kingsley; a sister, Ann Schwarz of Climbing Hill; three grandchildren, Brian, Scott and Clara Bottjen. She was preceeded in death by her parents.
