Description	:	James Anderson Ayers Piedmont Mr. James Anderson Ayers, 71, of 318 Shirley Road, entered into eternal rest after a courageous battle with cancer March 5, 2007, at the Hospice House of Anderson. Born in Otto, N.C., he was the son of the late William and Grace Wilson Ayers. Mr. Ayers retired after several years as a foreman with Palmetto Roofing. Since that time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and volunteering with the state parks. Welsh and Florence A. Smith Welsh, and a member of Unity Revival Outreach Church in Liberty. Surviving are a daughter, Jane Meyer of Pickens, and sons, Robert, Karl and Bruce Bayles, all of Pickens; sisters, Mildred Welsh of Pa., Maude Hedrick of Pa., Bernice Hoffman of Easley, and Vera Mann of Pa.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Edgar and Ella Belle Blakely Sanders. She was a homemaker, and a very active member of New Prospect Baptist Church. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Alice Burton of Laurens; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Jimmy Powers of Mountville and Gail and Randy Allen of Laurens; a nephew raised in the home, Ronnie Sanders, and wife, Barbara, of Laurens; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2007, at New Prospect Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. John Huckaby, Dr. Bev T. Kennedy Jr., and Mr. Gene Tollison, with burial in the church cemetery. A native of Central, she was a daughter of the late Furman Sr. and Marie Gossett. She worked at Central Textiles for 20 years, and was also a volunteer for Central Rescue Squad. Surviving, in addition to her beloved husband of 51 years, Harold Clayton Chastain, are eight children, Roger and David Chastain of Easley, Donnie Chastain of Liberty, Susan Edmond, Lynn Barnes and Jimmy Chastain of Central, Elaine Smith of Seneca and Walter Chastain of Pendleton; 21 grandchildren, Dale and Jason Chastain, Sonya Bigham, Frances Roach, Monica Dutton, Carrie Martinez, Joey and Nathan Edmond, Marie Grant, David Chastain Jr., Ruby Brown, Chris Barnes, Ashley Scott, Tasha Barnes, Allen Barnes, Eric Schrum, Benji and Anthony Smith and Amber, Josh and Samantha Chastain; 26 great-grandchildren; five sisters; one brother; three sons-in-law; and three daughters-in-law. Funeral services will be Friday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery
