Description	:	Mildred Peterson, 89 of Anamosa, formerly of Montezuma, passed away early March 3, 2015. Mildred Maxine Peterson, the daughter of William McKinley and Elsie(Wertz)Milligan, was born on October 25, 1925 in Newburg, Iowa. She graduated from Montezuma High School with the class of 1943. On May 11, 1947, Mildred was united in marriage with Carroll LeRoy Peterson. To this union two children were born, Kenneth Leroy and Carol Louise. Her memory will be honored by her children, Ken(Kathy)Peterson of Summum, Illinois, and Carol(Al)Perkins of Anamosa, Iowa; her grandchildren, Amy(Kip)Hurst, Matt(Addie)Peterson, Ben(Sarah)Perkins, Heidi(Andrew)Cross and Lisa(Juan)Bogran. She was blessed with 18 great grandchildren. Mildred is also survived by one brother, George(Marlene)Milligan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, two sister-in-laws, Evelyn Milligan of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Helen Gerard of Montezuma, and many nieces and nephews. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Peterson on February 17, 1962, her parents, McKinley and Elsie Milligan, two brothers, Doyle and Delmar, several in-laws and many aunts and uncles. Mildred received her teaching certificate from Wm. Penn College and taught from 1943-1947 at Pleasant Township School. From 1962-1973, she worked in the kitchen and as a custodian for Montezuma Community School. Mildred worked at Grinnell General Hospital and at Care Centers in Montezuma and Grinnell until retiring in 1997. She was a member of Jackson Church of Christ in Montezuma and later attended First Baptist Church in Anamosa. She lived in the Montezuma area until moving to Anamosa in 1998 to be closer to family. Mildred enjoyed traveling with family, seeing her grandchildren, crocheting, sewing, and she especially enjoyed helping others. She was very kind and always expressed thankfulness for anything that was done for her. She was a blessing to those who knew her. Visitation will be at Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma, Iowa from 5-7pm on Thursday, March 5, 2015. Funeral services will be at 11 am Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Funeral Home, with burial in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.
