Memorials may be directed to the First Lutheran Church Special Memorial Fund. Mildred B. Moen was born on March 1, 1913 in Decorah, IA the daughter of Tosten "Tom" Twenge and Mary (Evenson) Twenge. She attended Parochial School at First Lutheran Church in Decorah, graduating from High School in 1930. She worked for years assembling radios at the L. Tatro Co. in Decorah and also at the J.C. Penny store and Woolworths. In 1935 she was married to Richard Moen at First Lutheran Church by Rev. Hoff. She also was baptized, confirmed and married at First Lutheran Church in Decorah. Mildred and Richard lived for a time in Decorah where Richard owned an electric shop. They moved to a farm near Cresco in 1943 and in 1980 moved to Cresco, where they built their home. Upon leaving Decorah, they joined the First Lutheran Church in Cresco. Mildred loved life and people. She was a member and a founder of the "Stop & Go Club" for over 50 years. She also belonged to the "Twentieth Century Club", the "Historial Society", and the "Sons of Norway". She was very active in church work, church circles, and workdays and much enjoyed it. She liked to bake, cook, and truly loved to entertain in her home. She also enjoyed her card group, and especially dancing and music. Mildred also experienced traveling, which included being fortunate enough to visit Germany, Norway, Austria, and many states within the U.S., including California and Florida. She is survived by her son Ron (Marilyn) Moen of Reads Landing, MN, her daughter Mary (Ron) Maxwell of Castle Rock, CO, one grandson David Maxwell of Denver, CO, two nephews, Roger Wheatman and Bud Amundson, five nieces Bernelle Snell, Karen Nott, Carol Chadwick, Linda Bell, and Jean, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985, her parents, three sisters, and two brothers.
