Description	:	Mildred Emery, 91 years, formerly of Fremont, died Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Golden Living Center at Neligh. She was born December 26, 1920 at Oakland, NE to Charles and Lina (Newell) Nelson. The family lived in numerous places including Lincoln, NE where she attended school and graduated from Jackson High School. Following graduation, she worked for the Lincoln Public School system. The couple lived in various... Read More	Mildred Emery, 91 years, formerly of Fremont, died Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Golden Living Center at Neligh. She was born December 26, 1920 at Oakland, NE to Charles and Lina (Newell) Nelson. The family lived in numerous places including Lincoln, NE where she attended school and graduated from Jackson High School. Following graduation, she worked for the Lincoln Public School system. On March 7, 1941 ,Mildred Nelson and Carlton G. Emery, whom she met at Jackson High, were married at Hiawatha, Kansas. They moved to Kansas City to further his education. The couple lived in various locations in Kansas, Georgia and Massachusetts. They moved to Chicago in 1945 and lived there until moving to Freeport, IL in 1978. Mildred was employed at Kemper Insurance Company in Chicago. Her career there continued for 36 years in different positions from secretarial work to vice president of personnel. They retired and moved to Titusville, FL. Carlton died January 9, 1997 and Mildred moved to Fremont in January of 1998. She had been a resident of Nye Square Retirement Community and Shalimar Gardens. She moved to the Golden Living Center in Neligh, NE in Sept. of 2010, due to poor health. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, U.C.C. of Fremont. Music was a very important part of her life. She loved to play the electric organ and the keyboard and entertain others. She also had played the violin at a very young age. Survivors include nephews, LeRoy & wife, Glenice Eastberg of Uehling, Nebraska and Ron and wife, Cees Eastberg of Fremont, James & wife, Anita Nelson of Stone Mountain, Georgia and Rob Nelson and friend, Micki of Olympia, Washington; and nieces, Janice Combs of Jacksonville, Florida, Maxine Binkley of Burbank, California and Norma & husband, Ralph Black of Neligh, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, James L. Nelson; and sisters, Laura Fisher, Grace Eastberg, Dorothy McConaughey and Esther Lambourn. Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, January 7th at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Rev. Scott Jensen will officiate. There is no viewing or visitation. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or to the Dodge County Humane Society at Fremont, NE.
