Mildred, 87, of Oakdale, entered eternal rest on Monday, May 5, 2014, in her residence with her family by her side. She was born on April 30, 1927 to the union of L.E. and Ida Johnson Perkins. Mildred loved the Lord and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for the better part of her life. She loved her church family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, William P. Ray; two sons, Carvis Lynn Ray and William Dwain Ray; grandson, Jody Michael Ray; two brothers, Vernon Perkins and Tally Perkins; and two sisters, Verdie Maricle and Lillian Paugh; and son-in-law, Reverend Larry S. Tyler. Those left to celebrate her life and cherish her memory are one son, Gary Michael Ray of Hineston; one daughter, Marguerite "Margo" Ray Tyler of Tucson, Arizona; three sisters, Agnes Thibodeaux, Eloise Stalsby both of Oakdale, and Blance Thompson of Pineville; one brother, L.E. Perkins, Jr. of DeQuincy; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Gilbert Ray of Oakdale. Mildred loved her grandchildren and always encouraged them to do well and to follow Jesus: Lisa Ray Chamberlain, Craig Lynn Ray, and Tiffany Ray Lanier of Moss Bluff; Angela Tyler Oldford of Tucson, Arizona; Christel Tyler Keefe of Las Vegas, Nevada; Airman Lukas Stephen Tyler of Aviano, Italy; Stewart Dean Ray of Vinton; Kimberly Ray Mahon of Galveston, Texas; Jeffrey Dwain Ray of Orange, Texas; John Todd Ray and Sabrina Messer; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and many loving friends. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 in White Oaks Memorial Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9 p.m., then on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 8 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. in the church.
