Description	:	Mildred Hackler Phipps, 75, of Galax, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, N.C. She was the widow of Gladon Mack Phipps. She was born Feb. 21, 1928, in Comer's Rock to Wiley and Enis McGrady Hackler. A funeral was held Friday at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, with burial in the Grubbs Chapel Cemetery, Independence. The Rev. Bill Guy officiated. Memorial contributions may be made to the Twin County Hospice, P.O. Box 106, Galax, Va. 24333.
