The funeral service was held March 29 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Huron, with the Rev. Mark Gustafson officiating. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery, Huron. The funeral service was held March 29 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Huron, with the Rev. Mark Gustafson officiating. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery, Huron. Mileta Charlotte Tiede was born April 13, 1898, to Wilhelm and Justina (Schimke) Tiede in rural Parkston. At the age of four she moved with her family to a farm in rural Wessington Springs. She attended rural school. At the age of 13, she began playing the organ for the church for a number of years. On June 14, 1917, she married Reinhold Winter at the New Zion Congregational Church, rural Wessington Springs. They made their home on a farm northwest of Wessington Springs. In 1954 they moved to Huron. Her husband died April 20, 1964. In the early 1970's she moved to Dakota Plaza. In 1991 she moved to Jacksonville, Florida, and lived with her son James until February 1996. She then lived at Pines Retirement Home. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, Huron, for many years. She is survived by two sons, Vernon (Mary Lou) Winter of Wessington, and James (Jean) Winter of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter Alice (Melvin) Brosz of Wessington Springs; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Winter of Huron; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a number of step great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Elden, on Feb. 11, 1975; six brothers, Gust, Otto, Ed, Emmanuel, Gottlieb, and Arthur Tiede; and five sisters, Sophia Hoffman, Helen Bernhard, Ida Winter Hins, Dinah Tiede, and Bertha Hins.
