Description	:	THOMASTON – Milford A. Betts, 93, died March 31, 2007 at his home. Born in Dover-Foxcroft, November 10, 1913, he was one of three sons of Albion and Annie Keaton Betts. Educated in local schools, he was a graduate of Foxcroft Academy and Beal Business College. Mr. Betts served in the United States Army from January of 1941 to December of 1945. He married Mildred B. With... Read More	THOMASTON – Milford A. Betts, 93, died March 31, 2007 at his home. Born in Dover-Foxcroft, November 10, 1913, he was one of three sons of Albion and Annie Keaton Betts. Educated in local schools, he was a graduate of Foxcroft Academy and Beal Business College. Mr. Betts served in the United States Army from January of 1941 to December of 1945. He married Mildred B. MacLaurin at Augusta, October 11, 1947. The couple resided in Dover-Foxcroft until moving to Thomaston in 1959. Mr. Betts worked in the office of the Maine State Prison until retiring in 1974. With a family of seven children, he usually held several other part time jobs at the same time. These included janitorial work at the Thomaston Library, the Federated Church, Jameson's Market, Thomaston Town Offices, Watts Block and the Methodist Conference Home in Rockland. For more than 10 years, he also worked at the Thomaston Post Office. Besides his wife of 59 years, Mr. Betts is survived by one son, Peter A. Betts of Cushing; six daughters, Susan Kelley of Bath, Marilyn L. Baker and her husband Phillip of Woolwich, Barbara A. Betts of Nobleboro, Kathryn Cassidy of Kannapolis, NC, Arlene E. Betts and her companion George Soule of Thomaston, Joyce E. Betts and her companion Henry "Rocky" Judecki of Rockland; 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three nieces.
