Milford was born Jan. 31, 1908, at his parents home farm in Glenwood Township, Winneshiek County, the son of Martin and Andrina (Evenrud) Hendrickson. He grew up with two older sisters, Clarissa and Hildegard. In his home church of Glenwood Lutheran, Milford was baptized March 1, 1908, and confirmed April 14, 1923. He attended Glenwood Township District 5 School and Luther College Preparatory, where he graduated in 1926. He continued at Luther College and graduated in 1930. Milford then entered the Lutheran Seminary at St.Paul, Minn., and graduated from there in 1933. Following his ordination at Glenwood Lutheran Church, Milford served as pastor at Springfield and North Washington Prairie Lutheran churches, both in Winneshiek County, from 1934-43. For a change of pace, he taught mathematics — one of his favorite subjects in school - at high school in Hawkeye and Alta Vista from 1946-51. He later served as interim pastor at Stonebank, Holmen and West Salem, Wis. Milford enjoyed farming, owned his own farm, but lived at and helped on the farm of his sister, Clarissa and Henry Loven, for several years. He also liked to hunt. Most recently, Milford had been a resident at the Oneota Riverview Care Facility. Survivors include four nephews and nieces, Lloyd and Susie Loven of Dallas, Texas, Orval and Lois Loven of Peterson, Minn., Eloise and Willard Orvella of Decorah, and Arlene and Don Sorenson of New Brighton, Minn. Milford Elvin Hendrickson was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters in infancy and two other sisters, Clarissa Loven and Hildegard Blegen; and nieces Vivian (Loven) Niemann and Marian (Blegen) Ashbacher.
