He married Lillie Marie Hibler May 4, 1946. She preceded him in death Feb. 22, 2008.A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1941, he lived most of his life in Wapello County. Local 74 Retirees.Surviving are his daughter, Judy Rae Prettyman of Des Moines; two grandsons, Curtis (Laura) Prettyman of Des Moines and Craig (LaShawn) Prettyman of Alabama; four great-grandchildren, Ashley and Heather Prettyman of Des Moines, Zach and McKenzie Waddell of Alabama; honorary children, Gary (Deb) Whicker of Fayetteville, Ark., Doug (Jeanine) Whicker of Des Moines, Cheryl (Dave) Haataja of Michigan; three honorary grandchildren, Dane, Blake and Kegan Whicker, all of Arkansas; two sisters, Opal Wilcox of Davenport and Bea Jones of Ottumwa; two brothers, Bill Brown of Wellman and Chuck Brown of Waterloo.He was preceded in death by five sisters, Leona Parks, Hazel McLaughlin, Mabel McLain, Hildred Emery and Helen Thomas; and a brother, Stanley Brown.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home; Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with military services conducted by O.B. Nelson Post 3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post 775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
