Description	:	Mel Argo Former Kimball resident Mel Argo, 82, of Shelton, Neb., died at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island on Wednesday, July 19, 2000. Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, July 22, 2000, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Kimball, with the Rev. Francis Curran as celebrant. Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery. Read More	Mel Argo Former Kimball resident Mel Argo, 82, of Shelton, Neb., died at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island on Wednesday, July 19, 2000. A prayer vigil was conducted on Thursday, June 20 at the Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River, Neb. He was born September 9, 1917, in Kenesaw, Neb. to Alfred and Maude (Leisinger) Argo. He grew up in Shelton, graduating in 1934. He lived and worked in Grand Island. On February 24, 1940, he married Eunice Henry at Grand Island. The couple lived there until moving to Alliance in 1963. Later that same year they moved to Kimball, where they operated a Phillips 66 service station and bulk plant from 1965 to 1975. After his wife's death, he returned to Shelton in 1994. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelton. While living in Kimball, he was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law James and Betty Argo of Loveland, Colo.; daughter Jeannette James of Blair, Neb.; daughters-in-law Kathy Argo of Kimball and Tammi Argo-Ray of Thornton, Colo., sister Marjorie Felps of Shelton, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eunice in March 13, 1993; sons Don and Steve; and one brother and one sister. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Joseph's Church or to Prairie Haven Hospice in care of the funeral home.
