Description	:	Millard (Bill) Shields Millard William (Bill) Shields, 84, of Mercer, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1986, at Westview Acres Care Center in Leon, Iowa Mr. Shields was born June 20, 1902, in Mercer County, a son of Leander and Jennie (Phillips) Shields. On Dec. 19, 1921, he was united in marriage to Elsie Mae Collins. They farmed all their married lives in Mercer County, and Decatur County in Iowa. Survivors include his wife, Elsie; three sons, Paul, of Fairview, Okla., Dean of Overland Park, Kan., and Lester, of Davenport, Iowa; four daughters-in-law, Marjorie, Mary Jane, Alene and Linda; one sister, Violet Guffey, Mercer; one brother, Laurel Shields of Los Molinas, Calf.; 20 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Lawrence; three sisters; two brothers; and one great grandson. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m., at the Greenlee Funeral Chapel in Lineville with the Rev. Max Haggard and the Rev. Roy Donelson officiating.
