Description	:	Miller Hugh Summer, 91, of Chappells died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Hospice Care of the Piedmont. He was a son of the late Hugh Thompson "Tom" and Emma Agnes Bickley Summer. Miller was an Army veteran of WW II, retired school teacher & principal in Kershaw and Winnsboro. He was a member of Crossroad Baptist Church. Miller loved antiques, genealogy & history and it was he that made sure items from the past would be forever preserved at the South Caroliniana Library in Columbia, SC. He was a son of the late Hugh Thompson "Tom" and Emma Agnes Bickley Summer. Miller was an Army veteran of WW II, retired school teacher & principal in Kershaw and Winnsboro. He was a member of Crossroad Baptist Church. Miller loved antiques, genealogy & history and it was he that made sure items from the past would be forever preserved at the South Caroliniana Library in Columbia, SC. There you can find his donations of a letter from Amos Guise and Leroy Summer (written during the Civil War) as well as a copy of a photo of Amos. He was predeceased by brothers, Jennings Summer, Brunner Summer, and Grady Summer and sister, Margaret Summer. Graveside funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Crossroad Baptist Church Cemetery. Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry, assisted the family.
