Description	:	Funeral services for M. N. Garwood, who passed away last Wednesday, were held from the Christian church at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, with Rev. F. H. Stephenson officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Stephenson and Mrs. C. C. McCray. Miller Newton Garwood was born in Crawford county Pa., March 21, 1852 and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Effie Wolff, in Aurora, Nebraska on April 26, 1939, at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 5 days. When a small boy he moved with his parents to Mercer County, Ill. where, on January 21, 1875, he was united in marriage to Miss Parnell Amelia Austin. In the fall of 1877 Mr. and Mrs Garwood, responding to the westward urge, moved to Saunders county, Nebraska where they lived for three years. From there they moved to Hamilton county in 1880 where they resided continuously until their departure for "that house not made with hand, eternal in the heavens." Mrs. Garwood had been resident of Aurora and vicinity for 54 years and Mr. Garwood for 59 years. Mr. Garwood was early converted to the Christian faith and was for many years a member of the Arborville Baptist church. When they moved from the farm to Aurora Mr. Garwood transferred his church membership to the Christian church of that city, and to this church he remained faithful to the very end, having served in the capacity of an elder for many years and being an elder emeritus at the time of his death. Among those remaining to mourn his departure are: His eight children, William and Mrs. Grace Meredith of Bayard, Neb., Mrs Effie Wolff and Mrs. Laura Lantzer of Aurora, Neb., Ray of Alliance, Mrs Edna Jackson of Benedict, Orlie of Ogallala, and Roy of Ansley; two brothers, Alden of York, Neb., and Harley of Sheridan, Wyo., twenty-four grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren other near relatives and many friends.
