The old lady lived alone and if the Negro family, which lived on the adjoining plantation, had not heard her screams she might have been killed on the spot, as the brute was still threatening to renew the attack on his prostrate vicitm. She suffered the most excruciating pain until the morning of the 13th when her spirit took its flight and was wafted home to the God who gave it. How blessed to thus fall asleep in Jesus? She was 77 years old. Millie was the second to be buried in the Parks Crossroads Cemetery.
