Description	:	Mrs. M. Dena Penninger Laney, wife of Mr. J. W. Laney, died at their home in Pageland Sunday morning about 6 o'clock after a short illness of pellagra. She had been in bad health for some time. She was born in Union County, North Carolina, in September 1855, and was therefore, nearly 58 years old. She was a daughter of the late Jacob Penninger of Union county, and had spent her life in that county up to about 19 years ago, when they moved to this county. Laney, died at their home in Pageland Sunday morning about 6 o'clock after a short illness of pellagra. She had been in bad health for some time. She was born in Union County, North Carolina, in September 1855, and was therefore, nearly 58 years old. She was a daughter of the late Jacob Penninger of Union county, and had spent her life in that county up to about 19 years ago, when they moved to this county. She was united in marriage to Mr. Laney on the 17th of November, 1872. Mrs. Laney joined the Methodist Church at the age of 14 and had been a consistent member from that time until her death. She was a faithful wife, a loving mother and a good and upright Christian lady. Besides her husband, she leaves the following relatives: two sons, W. B. and J. A. Laney of Pageland; one brother, Mr. E. P. Penninger of Monroe; and two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Howe of Rock Hill, and Mrs. J. W. McCorkle of Union County, widow of the late J. W. McCorkle. Burial services were conducted at the Methodist Episcopal Church Sunday afternoon at 4:30 by Rev. J. A. McGraw and the remains were laid to rest in the Laney burying ground just west of town.
