Barton of Sioux Rapids Bakery, formerly of Spencer, had a very serious auto accident last week while en-route to Minnesota. Mrs. Barton was at the wheel at the time of the accident and was caused when the car hit loose gravel near Lakefield. The car was completely telescoped when it went off a seven foot grade and both Mr. and Mrs. Barton were pinned under the wreckage momentarily. Mrs. Barton was first to crawl from the car and managed to extricate her husband, who was badly injured. She walked over a half mile to a farm house for help and medical aid soon arrived. Mr. Barton's wrist and several bones in his left hand were broken and it was thought for some .. ... some time that a vertebrae between the shoulders had been broken but an x-ray proved that it was only a bad sprain. mrs. Barton received numerous severe bruises. The top of the car was almost a complete wreck. Mr. Barton will be incapacitated for work at the bakery for some time but they say he is pretty good boss as well as a real baker and will see that the products of the establishment are kept up to their present high standards.
