Born July 9, 1908, west of Danville, he was the son of Harry and Nettie Bolton Rice. On Oct. 26, 1932, he married Martha Amanda Wilke in Danville. She died Dec. 31, 1999. Mr. Rice was a mechanic. Read More	The Burlington Hawkeye- 10/27/2002 Milo Rice Milo Bolton "Spud" Rice, 94, of Danville, died at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at Danville Care Center. Born July 9, 1908, west of Danville, he was the son of Harry and Nettie Bolton Rice. On Oct. 26, 1932, he married Martha Amanda Wilke in Danville. She died Dec. 31, 1999. Mr. Rice was a mechanic. He worked for Allis Chalmers in Danville. He also had a small engine repair shop in Danville. He was a 1925 graduate of Danville High School. He was a member of Danville Baptist Church, Lowell Baptist Church and the Gideon Society. He was a fisherman, and in the fall, a "nutter," collecting and cracking all types of nuts. During Halloween, he was well-known in Danville for the hundreds of bags of popcorn he handed out to trick-or-treaters. Survivors include three daughters, Thelma Ita of Danville, Linda K. Cruce of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Marilyn Peterson of Ames; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mabel Voorhees of Santa Monica, Calif., and Vera Calloway of Burlington. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. Visitation will begin after noon on Friday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Rice will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Harry Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will be in Jaggar Cemetery in Danville. A memorial has been established for the Milo B. and Martha Rice Endowment Scholarship Fund.
