Read More	Milton Roederer 3-12-06 Hawk Eye, The (Burlington, IA) - Sunday, March 12, 2006 Author: The Hawk Eye Born July 1, 1917, in New London, he was the son of Edward and Mae Wiekle Roederer . On Dec. 11, 1947, he married Ruth Taylor in Mount Pleasant. Mr. Roederer worked for Lamm's Shoe Store and Sheaffer Pen before managing Roederer 's Clothing for Men and Boys on the Mount Pleasant square for more than 20 years. He was a 1934 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. He entered the Army in September 1943. He served during World War II in the Infantry in France and Germany, where he participated in the D-Day invasion at Normandy. He received three overseas service bars for the European, African and Middle Eastern Campaign, receiving one bronze battle star, a good conduct medal, purple heart and the WWII Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant in March 1946. He was a life-long member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer and belonged to the Mount Pleasant Golf and Country Club for 50 years. He was a supporter of Mount Pleasant Community High School and Iowa Wesleyan sports, where he served as an official scorekeeper for both basketball teams for over 50 years. Survivors include his wife; four sons, John Roederer and Robert Roederer , both of Mount Pleasant, William Roederer of Ogden, and David Roederer of Johnston; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Monday at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. A rosary will be recited by the Knights of Columbus at 6 p.m. The family will receive friends following the rosary service. The funeral mass for Mr. Roederer will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Nicholas J. Adam as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the St. Alphonsus building fund.
