Description	:	The Clinton Age, Clinton, Iowa, January 13, 1882 Last week J. L. and Milton Byerly, two prosperous young farmers in Jackson Township, drew from the bank $2,500. We understand they had in view a possible purchase of Mrs. S. V. Hale’s farm, adjoining their own. L. and Milton Byerly, two prosperous young farmers in Jackson Township, drew from the bank $2,500. We understand they had in view a possible purchase of Mrs. S. V. Hale’s farm, adjoining their own. After paying some small items of indebtedness they went home, placing the roll of bills in a handkerchief and sinking it in a flour barrel. Sunday evening all went to church. After their return, one of the family went upstairs for the purpose of retiring, made the discovery that the beds were torn to pieces, the carpets pulled up and even the barrel of flour spilled over the floor. The household were struck with consternation, and as may be imagined, those who knew were the money had been concealed at once jumped to the conclusion that they had seen the last of their surplus wealth; but on investigation the roll was found undisturbed and all were made very happy. That cash, it is hardly necessary to add, found its way to the bank in good season the next morning. So far as we know, no trace of the burglar has been found. - Anamosa Eureka
