Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Wayland Mennonite Church with the Rev. Steve Good officiating. Burial will follow in the North Hill Cemetery, north of Wayland. Memorials may be made to the Wayland Mennonite Church or the Wayland Rescue Unit. Born April 14, 1908, at Wayland, he was a son of Peter J. and Lydia (Orendorff) Roth. He was baptized into the Mennonite faith on Oct. 26, 1919. On Sept. 1, 1928 he married Rachel Gerig at Wayland. He worked as a farmer until retiring in 1965. For the next eight years he was gas superintendent for the city of Wayland. For several years, beginning in 1973, he was employed at C.J. Fertilizer. Mr. Roth was a member of the Wayland Mennonite Church. Survivors include his wife, Rachel; one son, Ron; two brothers, Lloyd and Orval; one sister, Gladys (Mrs. Henry) Widmer, all of Wayland. He also is survived by nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Rex. Washington; one grandson; two brothers and one sister.
