Description	:	Milton Ensley, Jr., Onecho area native, passed away May 14, 2013 at the Whitman Hospital in Colfax. A graveside service will be held Friday, May 31st at 10:00 am in the Onecho Cemetery followed by a memorial service at the Onecho Bible Church at 11:00. Milton was born July 6, 1925 in Colfax to Milton and Merle (Arrasmith) Ensley. He grew up on the family ranch in the Onecho area and graduated from Colfax High School in 1944. He married Gelene Rubin in December 1946. Their marriage ended with her unexpected death in November 1947. Milton married Shirley Jean Metcalf on December 9, 1948. They farmed in the Onecho area. Milton loved all aspects of farming and ranching, especially cattle and livestock. He was the FFA "star-hand" his senior year in high school, a Washington state achievement contest winner, a 4-H leader for several years in the Onecho area, and twice won a National Grand Championship for show cattle--once at the San Francisco Cow Palace and once at the Chicago Stockyards. In the mid-1950's Milton answered the Lord's call to full-time Christian ministry. Milton earned his BA degree from Whitworth College in 1957. He then attended seminary and graduate school at Asbury in Kentucky, the Pacific School of Religion, Berkley, CA, and graduated with his Masters from Golden Gate Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Belvedere Tiburon, CA. Milton was founding pastor of a church in Camarillo, CA in 1960. The church developed into a self-supporting church within one year. Milton next pastored churches in Fillmore, CA.; Seattle, WA.; Salt Lake City, UT; and Umatilla, OR, where he was named Pastor Emeritus. He formally retired in 1993, but then accepted the call for pulpit supply to the Presbyterian Church in Yarnell, AZ. He served as commissioner twice to the General Assembly of Presbyterian Churches in the USA and served on the Presbyterian Counseling Board for the Seattle Presbytery. He belonged to the Presbytery of the Grand Canyon of Arizona. Following his retirement Milton and Shirley lived in Surprise, AZ in the winter and the Onecho ranch in the summer. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley; 5 children, Gwen, Bruce, Keith, Tim and David; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Lucile. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Melvin and Allen and by a granddaughter, Amy Marie Taylor. Bruning Funeral Home of Colfax is in charge of the arrangements.
