Description	:	Benitz - Milton Leo Benitz, oldest child of Elizabeth C. and Henry A. Benitz, was born near Wathena, Kans., on December 7, 1914. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith at his parents' home on December 10, 1914, confirmed in Christ Evangelical Lutheran church near Wathena, Kans., on August 2, 1929. He graduated from the high school at Robinson, Kans., in May 1933, taught in public schools for the following 5 years. The remainder of his life was spent in farming, doing custom work. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith at his parents' home on December 10, 1914, confirmed in Christ Evangelical Lutheran church near Wathena, Kans., on August 2, 1929. He graduated from the high school at Robinson, Kans., in May 1933, taught in public schools for the following 5 years. The remainder of his life was spent in farming, doing custom work. On June 20, 1937, he was united in marriage to Nellie Page at the Upper Wolf Lutheran parsonage near Robinson, Kans. To this union were born two sons, Jerry Patrick, 8 years old. Marvin Eugene, 9 months old. At the time of death he was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church at Holton, Kans., where he and his family made their home. He was killed when his airplane crash-landed during a storm at Stapleton, Nebr., on Aug. 1, 1948, at the age of 33 years, 7 months, 24 days. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, two sons, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Benitz of Everest, Kans., one brother, Clarence Benitz of Everest, Kans., one sister, Mrs. Oscar Anderson of Leona, Kans., a host of other close relatives and friends. Funeral services were held from the Mercer funeral home, the Trinity Lutheran church, Wednesday, August 4, 1948, with Rev. Lammar in charge of services. W. W. Zeckser, accompanied by Ida Kuglin at the organ, sang three solos, "In the Garden," "Nearer, My God, to Thee," "Rock of Ages." The sermon text was John 14:1-3. He was laid to rest in the Holton cemetery. Body bearers were cousins of the deceased: Leonard Gaul, Raymond Gaul, Harold Benitz, Wilbur Laroff, Ezra W. Shields, John McKittrick, Jr.
