He was the son of the late, Abisha and Cora (Bunting) Cooper of Bethany Beach. Milton was a graduate of Lord Baltimore High School in Ocean View, DE and the Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, DE. Read More	Milton W. Cooper(1914 - 2012) Milton W. Cooper Milton W. Cooper, age 98, of Bethany Beach, DE, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2012 at the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford, DE. He was the son of the late, Abisha and Cora (Bunting) Cooper of Bethany Beach. Milton was a graduate of Lord Baltimore High School in Ocean View, DE and the Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, DE. He was retired from the U.S. Coast Guard, having fought in the battle of Guadalcanal during WWII. He was also a retired boat captain with the University of Delaware in Lewes. He was one of the first inductees into the Delaware Maritime Hall of Fame. He was the last Commander of the Indian River Coast Guard Station and was instrumental in restoring it to the Indian River Life Saving Museum. Milton was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. He was one of the founders of the Eastern Sussex Chapter of Ducks Unlimited and he was the goose calling champion of Delaware for many years. Milton was a member of the Doric Lodge#30 of Millville and the Ocean View Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, Milton was preceded in death by his brothers, Clarence and Virgil Cooper. He is survived by his loving wife Ruth; son, John Cooper and his wife Janet of Millville; daughter, Carolyn Hockman and her husband Sterling of Ocean View; three grandchildren, Guy Cooper and his wife Billie of Clarksville, Chad Hockman and his wife Karen of Millville and Greg Hockman and his wife Marisa of Millville; five great grandchildren, C.J., Madison and Macyn Hockman, Nathan and Braxton Cooper. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 13th at 1:00 p.m. at the Ocean View Church of Christ, where friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Roxana Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in Milton's name to, Ocean View Church of Christ building fund, 55 West Ave, Ocean View, DE. 19970 or the Milford Church of Christ, P.O.
