Milton Weaver was born at Monona, Iowa, February 18, 1864, the son of Milton and Martha Case Weaver and departed from this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William H. Stotler, West Branch, Iowa, on the morning of February 17, 1948. After the death of his father, a Civil War Veteran, his early childhood was spent in New York state among his mother's people. His grandfather and an uncle were the founders of the well known J.I. Case Company. In early manhood Mr. Weaver homesteaded near Norton, Kansas, but soon returned to Iowa to spend the remainder of his long life. In January of 1887 he began work at the state hospital in Mt. Pleasant, where he held various positions of trust, until his resignation in October, 1944. His fifty-seven years of service at this institution was matched by his fifty-eight years as a Mason, and more than fifty years as member of the First Methodist church and the Order of Odd Fellows. He was a Past Master of the Lodge of Masons in Mt. Pleasant and in his church held the offices of steward, Sunday School superintendent, Sunday School teacher, and usher. September 11, 1889, Mr. Weaver married Martha Jane Wright of Glasgow, Iowa, who preceded him in death, October 19, 1944. He is survived by five daughters: Mrs. Roy L. Mayhew, Baton Rouge, La.; Mrs. William H. Stotler, West Branch, Iowa; Miss Helen D. Weaver, Buhl, Minnesota; Mrs. Guy H. Thompson, Springfield, Ill.; and Mrs. Warren W. East, Shelbina, Missouri. Other survivors are five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
