Mr. Mickelsen was born on May 15, 1921, in Howard County to Marius K. and Marie Christina (Pedersen) Mickelsen. He married Pearl Shrinner in 1951 at the Hall County Courthouse. She died in 1982. Mr. Mickelsen was born on May 15, 1921, in Howard County to Marius K. and Marie Christina (Pedersen) Mickelsen. He married Pearl Shrinner in 1951 at the Hall County Courthouse. She died in 1982. Survivors of the immediate family include three stepsons, six stepdaughters and many stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren, including stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Gary and Kristy Smith of Palmer; stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Shirley and Tom Williams of Grand Island and Sandy and Gary Rudolf of Iowa; stepgranddaughter, Jeannie Marshall of Colorado; six sisters and four brothers-in-law, Ada Pedersen and Donald Goering of Colorado, Anne Meyer of Hastings, Louise and Jack McIntyre of Wolbach, Helen and Ray Meyer of Colorado, June Wadas of Colorado and Dorothy and Larry Jones of Omaha; and one sister-in-law, Geraldine Mickelsen Hodges. He received his education at a rural school near Dannevirke, where he grew up. In 1938, he went to work for Fred Prewitt near Whitman as a cowboy. Miner enlisted in the United States Army and entered service on Aug. 1, 1942. After a brief training course in mechanics at Fort Lewis, Wash., he served in the South Pacific until he was honorably discharged on Dec. 24, 1945. He worked for Platte Valley Construction for 35 years and later was a farm manager for the company's owner, John Nietfelt. Miner was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. In addition to his three wives, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Einer Mickelsen and Earl Mickelsen; four sisters, Eva Larsen, Elda Miller, Mary Christensen and Joy Glines; one sister-in-law, Lola Mickelsen; and seven brothers-in-law, Andy Larsen, Chester Miller, Elmer Christensen, Harold Glines, Don Pedersen, Darwin Meyer and Ray Wadas.
