Shortly after their marriage, Bob was called to serve his country in the US Air Force during World War II. Mim lived in Grinnell during Bob's military service and raised their children. The family resided in Japan and at various military bases throughout the US during Bob's military career. Following his military service they lived in California. In 1991 they moved to Grinnell. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Lady Elks.
