Description	:	Minna Julia (née Brandenburg) Lundborg, 92, a former resident of Helena, passed away peacefully Sept. 21, 2006, of natural causes at her daughter's home in Portland, Ore. Minna was born in Wessington Springs, S.D., June 4, 1914, to Julius and Bertha Brandenburg. She was the fourth child of nine children. On Sept. 1, 1940, she married Elmer O. Read More	Minna Julia (née Brandenburg) Lundborg, 92, a former resident of Helena, passed away peacefully Sept. 21, 2006, of natural causes at her daughter's home in Portland, Ore. Minna was born in Wessington Springs, S.D., June 4, 1914, to Julius and Bertha Brandenburg. She was the fourth child of nine children. On Sept. 1, 1940, she married Elmer O. Lundborg at her parent's farm west of Alpena, S.D. Shortly after their marriage, they bought her husband's father's general store in Alpena. The Lundborgs' General Store in the 1940s consisted of a complete line of groceries, meats, dry goods, shoes and all manner of bulk, packaged goods. Minna worked at the family store and was a 48-year member of the Methodist Woman's Society of Christian Service. She taught kindergarten children and started a Young Mothers' Club. In 1953, she and her husband sold their business and moved to Helena, where they continued their business success with Lundborg's Produce, serving grocery stores around the state. Minna continued to volunteer with St. Paul's Methodist Church and was proud of her missionary work and attended various state assembly meetings in various Montana cities. She volunteered at St. Peter's Hospital, visiting patients. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Marion Chapter #1. Minna was a homemaker and always available to her family and daughters. She inspired the gift of giving, shared a wonderful wit and steadfast family values with her children. In later years, she resided in Great Falls, then California, and most recently for the past 10 years in Portland with her daughter, Jeanine Settelmeyer. While Minna lived with dementia those last 10 years, she continued to bring a smile and spread humor and joy to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer; brothers, Otto and Bill; and sisters, Alma and Marion. She is survived by: daughters Betty (and Armen) Hidalgo of Helena, and Janine Settelmeyer of Portland; grandchildren, David Hidalgo of Portland, Stephanie (and Zac) Durnam of Belgrade, Betsy (and Larry) Pahut of Anaconda and Joe (and Lorna) Hidalgo of Seattle; four great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. In 1987 Minna was quoted as saying, "as I wind down, I sit down and thank God for all I've had spiritually and materially. Knowing when my day ends, I will have known God and thank him for the dear families who have helped complete my life -- as a good one." Graveside services will be held in Helena at Sunset Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m. A reception celebrating and honoring Minna's life will follow the brief service at 902 Hauser Blvd. A memorial service and gathering of family and friends will be held at Janine's home in Portland on Oct. 21. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimers Association of Greater Oregon, 1311 NW 21st Ave., Portland OR 97209; Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies, 1235 Birch St., Helena MT 59601; and/or St Paul's Methodist Church.
