Description	:	Minnie Agnes, daughter of John and Jennie Faircloth Gilbert, was born in Grinnell August 31, 1898, and entered the heavenly portals at the midnight hour, February 3, 1935, aged 36 years, 5 months and 3 days. The father died when she was small, the mother married Jesse Schooley, but she too died, leaving Minnie with the care of the home and the two brothers, aged six and four years. The father died when she was small, the mother married Jesse Schooley, but she too died, leaving Minnie with the care of the home and the two brothers, aged six and four years. She was united in marriage with Clifford M. Phipps December 22, 1919. To them were born eight children, two of whom died in infancy, one of them, Dorothy Marie, in 1933; the others are Pauline, Donald, Raymond, Paul, Hollis, and Richard Kenneth. Minnie was a member of the First Friends church, became a christian and lived a consistent life. She enjoyed attending the services of the church, but was often deprived of that privilege by her home duties. She was patient, tender and sympathetic, and bore the burdens and sorrows of life quietly and uncomplainingly. She enjoyed taking the Red Cross course of nursing, was ambitious to train her children in worthwhile things. They lived in Rock Creek township several years, but had made their home in Grinnell the last two years. She had not been well, but was not taken seriously ill until shortly before her death. She leaves her husband, the six children, two brothers, Gerald and Melvin Schooley of Marshalltown, and many friends who mourn her departure. The funeral services were conducted in the First Friends church, at one o'clock, February 6 by her pastor, Carrie A. Butler, and Robert Lincoln. A male quartette consisting of Paul and Glenn Huff, Joseph Haupt and Bernard Bailey, sang three numbers. The pallbearers were Harold Schooley, Murray Watkins, Wilbur and Harold Elliott, Lloyd Roberts and Gilmore Robbins. The body was laid to rest in Rock Creek cemetery.
