Mrs Meier died Sunday afternoon at the Good Samaritan Center in Scribner where she ahd resided for the past year. Following a broken hip in 1968, she became a resident at the Annex in Fremont where she lived until last April when she moved to the home in Scribner. As Minnie Thernes, daughter of pioneer parents, Mathias and Bertha Thernes, she was born in Ridgley Township May 13 1879 and had lived in Dodge County her entire life. She was baptized and confirmed at the Ridgeley Lutheran Church. She attended the public schools, District 12, and the Scribner public Schools. She was united in marriage to Henry W Meier on Feb 28 1900 and the couple farmed in the Hooper and Scribner area. They retired from active farming in 1918 and lived in Scribner until the death of Mr Meier on May 24 1947. That fall Mrs Meier moved to Fremont and was active in the Congregational Church there, the War Mothers organization, and the Spanish American War Auxiliary. Mrs Meier was a faithful member of the United Church of Christ, Congregational, of Scribner and a 50 year member of the Congregational Women's Fellowship of Scribner. She had been a sunday school teacher and a member of the Gleaners and Missionary Society of the church also. She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs Irving Bahde (Ada) of Fremont, mrs Virgil Swanson (Gertrude) of Scribner, 3 grandchildren mrs Charles Fields (Elaine) of Chattanooga, Tenn, Irving Bahde Jr of Glendale, Arizona, and Richard Swanson of Scribner, 3 great granchildren David Fields of Germany and Michael and Steven Swanson of Scribner. One sister, Mrs Avery Weage (Richard) of Scribner also survives. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Bertie, her parents and two brothers.
